4 Ways To Get Rid Of Mold Without Having To Call A Professional

If you’ve noticed a few spots of mold in your home, you’re certainly not alone. When you’re dealing with a small area, you can generally get rid of mold by yourself. If you’re concerned the mold problem in your home is a big one, you should definitely call a professional, however. But for minor mold issues, you can try these simple fixes.

1. Hydrogen Peroxide

You already know that hydrogen peroxide is a disinfectant and antiseptic for cuts and scrapes. But did you know hydrogen peroxide will also remove mold? Just spray some on the area in question, let sit for about 10 minutes, then scrub and wipe clean.

2. Baking Soda

Not only will baking soda get rid of mold, but it will also dry up and deodorize the area. Dissolve a small amount of baking soda in water, then spray the solution on the area before scrubbing and rinsing.

3. Dish Soap

If you’re dealing with a surface or area that’s non-porous, a combination of warm water and liquid dish soap will remove mold.

4. Distilled Vinegar

Is there anything distilled vinegar can’t do?! Simply spray some vinegar on the area in question, then let it sit for about an hour. When the time’s up, wipe and rinse throughly.

Remember, when getting rid of mold on your own, you should always wear rubber gloves and a protective face mask. You want to avoid getting any mold spores on your skin, and you want to especially avoid breathing in the spores, as this can cause many mold-related diseases.
