This year, Stapleton was given an honor not many are bestowed with – to sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl.

This week was the time for the much-anticipated game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. It was finally kicked off officially at the 2023 Super Bowl on Sunday.

The singer tapped this time to perform the National Anthem before festivities began was none other than Chris Stapleton. The singer entered the field dressed in his signature attire, complete with a pair of dark sunglasses.

The Kentucky native then launched into his rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” for everyone in attendance at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona and also those tuning in on their televisions.

In the past, country singers such as Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, and Mickey Guyton have been given the honor of singing the National Anthem at the occasion, and now it was Stapleton’s turn to add his name to the impressive list.

Apart from him singing the National Anthem, The 2023 Super Bowl pregame lineup also included veteran actress Sheryl Lee Ralph’s performance of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” and R&B Babyface who sang “America the Beautiful.”

Seeing the country singer’s performance really touched a lot of hearts. People took to social media to express their emotions about Stapleton’s version of the anthem.

He performed at 2015 Country Music Awards with Justin Timberlake. The duo mashed up their respective songs “Tennessee Whiskey” and Timberlake’s “Drink You Away.”

Now years later, Stapleton has dozens of awards in his name. To name a few, he has about 16 CMAs, eight Grammy Awards, 10 Academy of Country Music Awards among others.

In the past the singer has spoken about how he sings in a unique way which might be everyone’s cup of tea. He said, “I don’t probably sing like a traditional country singer you know, but, ultimately, I’m me,” he said in June 2022. “I’m just trying to be the best version of that that I can be.”

Chris added, “And whether that’s playing a song that leans into blues or a song that leans into R&B or a song that leans into really distinctly outlaw country. I love all that music. And I don’t feel limited to playing one type of song.”

The singer really blew everyone away with his rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. It truly bought tears to thousands of eyes.
