Sally Field: The Cherished Actress with a Memorable Career

Sally Field is a famous actress who has won big awards like the Academy, Emmy, and Golden Globe Awards. You might remember her from movies like “Forrest Gump,” “Brothers and Sisters,” “Lincoln,” and “Steel Magnolias.”

She started her acting career in 1965, playing the main role in “Gidget.” Since then, she has been in lots of TV shows, movies, and Broadway performances.

Sally Field has also been honest about the tough times in her personal life. In her 2018 memoir called “In Pieces,” she talks about the difficult things she went through, like facing sexual abuse from her stepfather and dealing with depression, self-doubt, and loneliness.”

Sally Field was born on November 6, 1946, in Pasadena, California. Her mom, Margaret Field (born Morlan), was an actress, and her dad, Richard Dryden Field, worked as a salesman.

After her parents divorced, her mom married actor and stuntman Jock Mahoney. Sally has a brother named Richard Field and a half-sister named Princess O’Mahoney, and both of them are still alive.

Sally Field got married to Steven Craig in 1968, and they had two sons, Peter and Eli. But in 1975, they got divorced. Later, in 1984, she married Alan Greisman, and they had one son named Samuel. Unfortunately, they also got divorced in 1994.

Between 1976 and 1980, she was in a relationship with Burt Reynolds. She talks about this difficult relationship in her memoir.

She recounts his controlling behavior and how he convinced Field not to attend the Emmy ceremony where she won for “Sybil.”

Reynolds actually died just before her book’s release, and in his own memoir, he called their failed relationship “the biggest regret of my life” in his 2015 memoir “But Enough About Me.”

During those 30 years before his passing, Sally Fields mentioned that she and Burt Reynolds didn’t talk. She said, “He was not someone I could be around.” She explained that being with him was not good for her in any way. Burt had some ideas about their relationship that weren’t true. He thought she was more important to him than she really was. But for Sally, she just didn’t want to deal with that.

These days, Sally Field keeps her Oscars and Emmys in a TV room where she plays video games with her grandkids. So far, Field shows no signs of retiring with her film “Spoiler Alert” releasing next week, as well as “80 for Brady” coming in 2023.

“Being an actor, Sally dared this town to put her in a box, and then she just smashed through every rule to find her own way. Not just to stardom, which she probably wouldn’t like, but to great roles in amazing movies and TV shows,” said Steven Spielberg, her friend and director of “Lincoln.”

“Because of her consistently good choices and determined spirit, she has survived the changing times, stood strong, and earned this special place in history.”

For over 60 years, Sally Field has won the hearts of people everywhere. She has built a meaningful life for herself and her family, embraced aging naturally, and found joy in being a grandmother.

Her story is an inspiration to all of us, reminding us to approach each stage of life with gratitude and grace.
