Beloved Entertainment Journalist Sam Rubin Passes Away at 64

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Sam Rubin, a beloved entertainment journalist, at the age of 64. Sam reportedly suffered a heart attack at his home and was immediately taken to UCLA West Hills for medical attention. Unfortunately, he could not overcome this tragic incident.

Sam was known for his regular Hollywood news segments on KTLA’s “Morning News” program. He was a familiar face on our screens, bringing us the latest updates from the entertainment world.

Sam’s contribution to the local news industry and the entertainment world was immense. His laugh, charm, and caring personality touched the hearts of everyone who knew him.

In a statement released by KTLA, they expressed their profound sadness over Sam’s passing. They described him as a giant in the industry and a fixture of Los Angeles morning television. Sam’s role as a loving husband and father was cherished the most, and our thoughts go out to his family during this difficult time.

Sam Rubin joined KTLA in 1991 and became a significant part of their team. He was not only seen on red carpets, interviewing A-list celebrities like Zendaya, Mariah Carey, Sting, Usher, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, but he also hosted “Live From the Academy Awards” segment.

His talent and expertise expanded beyond Hollywood, as he made appearances on the BBC’s TV and radio segments and Channel 9 in Australia.

Apart from his remarkable career in journalism, Sam was one of the founding members of the Broadcast Film Critics’ Association. He also led his own show, “Hollywood Uncensored with Sam Rubin,” for 120 episodes. Throughout his journey, Sam received numerous accolades, including the Impact Award for outstanding integrity in broadcast journalism from the National Hispanic Media Coalition.

He was also honored with a Golden Mic award, a lifetime achievement award from the Southern California Broadcasters Association, and was recognized as the best entertainment reporter by the Los Angeles Press Club.

Sam Rubin leaves behind his loving wife, Leslie, and their four children. His legacy as an entertainment journalist and his warm, charismatic presence will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Rest in peace, Sam.
